Soccer Challenge

Journal 1

The inter-school soccer tournament was going to be held in our school for children under 10 and 12 and it was going to be organized by us and for each year this event was passed down from one grade to another and this year it was us. I was bit nervous of this event before because we have never handled and organized this kind of big event. Our grade was very huge of 52 students and CAS coordinator Mr.Rolf divided us into groups for different tasks and he told this event will be for 3 days and also he said we should help each other to complete this event. Also he mentioned there will be no classes taking part so, we were very happy at that moment but also we were sad too because we miss a games period too. The preparations was started for each tasks and we were ready for this most awaited event.

Journal 2

The first day of the tournament has come and we were given a T-SHIRTS to show that we are representing this event and also we were given badges to pin in our shirt. My assigned duty was the arrangement group with some students and this duty was to arrange everything properly before the event and to make sure everyone are doing their work properly which is a very important task. I was also helping in the live commentary for the match with Vishnu and Pujayanthan. We were informed that ourself the days scholars should go by the time four forty five in the evening bus and we went to the bus correct time bus.

Journal 3

Day 2 of the soccer tournament.  I was still assigned to be in the arrangement group and also helped some groups and instruct some of the group to do their work. I was helping many groups but the first one was again helping  the live commentary because I was quite interested in it and also I like to play football and has some knowledge in it so, I shared some thoughts in the commentary. Then I went help the food stall because most of the students came to buy food and the group members alone cannot handle that so, I went there to help them and then Sounder sir called me to go up to get the stickers for the certificates. So I ran up there and got the job done for him. Then Mr.Rolf called me to announce the best player award for the losing team and I announced it properly so, just like that 2^nd day went and the last day of the tournament is tomorrow where we will have a lot of work  and I was ready for it.

Journal 4

Here comes the last day of the tournament and it was a very important and awaited day because today we will know who is the champion of under-10 and under-12 . In under-10 there was 1 team and they qualified to quarter finals and for under-12 there were 2 teams but one team was knocked out yesterday very sadly but the other team was looking stronger. As I was interested in live commentary so, I started with it and also got some interest in photography where I got a camera from my friend Abhinav to click some photos for long time. Then again the foot stall was not under control where there were full of students to buy the snacks so, I went there helped them and I am very good in maths so, I helped them in the billing counter too. At last the winners were the Tips Coimbatore in both under 10 and under 12 and in fewer than 12 match it was raining goals as they won 8-0 against the opponent. We did closing ceremony by dance, bursting crackers and prize distribution also went properly.

Reflection

The most anticipated day was finally over with a bang. There were a few negatives which we all overcame together. All our hard work were put to good use and learned how to handle such kind of big events and proper team work and coordination. I was really comfortable with taking my assigned work and have done it properly and also helped  some other groups to get their work done. Helping the live commentary made me some confidence in talking and Working collaboratively with others was one more thing. Me and my classmates helped each other and shared our own burdens on so many occasions as we were in this together. This learned me to adjust according to every situations. This tournament also brought out my responsibility skills and also taught me how to multi-task at times. We've voluntarily took so many duties on our head but still we did that properly in correct time. Still we got some negative comments from our teachers for music DJ group because they told Tamil song were not allowed but still the DJ group played it. Overcoming my nervousness to correctly finish my task and also to speak to outsiders in the name of school, by being confident helped me a lot. Also some of the students was sitting simply because their work was done so, our teachers were scolding them for not doing their work. After the event we were appreciated by some teachers and also our CAS coordinator MR.Rolf who was the one who worked   more than everyone .In future, I would like to be a part of more organizing events as it helps to bring out the talents in us.
